WE ACCEPT:

VHS tapes

Plastic cases

Paperboard cases

RULES:

-We charge .25/tape. This fee covers our labor costs to disassemble each tape by hand, as well as the recycling costs of the plastics

-It is OK to leave the paper inserts inside of plastic tape cases

-Please remove all stickers and labels from the tapes

REMOVE THE STICKERS!

Paper labels/stickers and glue/adhesive are contamination and prevent us from being able to recycle the plastic that they're attached to. Tapes that have stickers/labels attached are not recyclable.

In order for us to recycle your VHS tapes, we need help from you.

Please remove stickers and labels from the FRONT AND SIDE of tapes before coming to our site. The more you can remove, the better the chance that they will be able to be recycled.

WHY DISASSEMBLE TAPES?

VHS tapes contain multiple components that cannot be recycled together. However, if the components are separated, pieces can be recycled.

VHS tapes contain:
-A plastic outer shell: Recyclable IF the stickers are removed
-Inner plastic wheels: Recyclable
-Metal screws and springs: Recyclable
-Tape/film: Not recyclable - landfilled
When we disassemble tapes, we remove the tape/film by hand and separate the metals from the plastics so we can recycle the most materials possible. Although the tape/film is not a recyclable material, the plastic and metal can be recovered!
